About Spa Thermal de Haute Provence
Digne's thermal springs, known since Gallo-Roman times, rise at 655 m on the right bank of the Eaux Chaudes torrent, which has cut the small green valley east of the town where the baths stand. A study by the BRGM, the French geological survey, confirmed that the water travels a long way underground before it surfaces through joints in a band of Middle Lias limestone. The plunge baths keep the Roman names, with the tepidarium held close to body temperature as the pause between the cold frigidarium and the hot caldarium.
