About Spa Thermal d'Uriage

The operator dates the cure to the end of the 17th century, when Joseph Brun, a farmer on the Uriage castle estate, saw what the water did for his animals and converted part of his farm for the first patients. In 1820 his son Bernard put up wooden cabins for lodging and treatment, and the castle's owners later built almost all of the present buildings in a programme that ran until 1877. A last renovation in 1892 gave the centre its current architecture. The water rises from 80 m down, carrying about 11,000 mg of minerals per litre.
