About Aurora Spa at Camp Ripan
The spa was planned around stone, wood and water, the materials the operator says stand for life in Lapland. It's laid out so you move between in and out, heat and cold: in the outdoor pool the polar winter air is on your face while the water keeps you warm, and with luck the northern lights appear. The operator traces the ritual to old Swedish, Sami and Torne Valley Finnish medicinal traditions. The foot salts hold juniper berries, lemon and sea salt, the final body oil is pine-scented rybs seed oil, and many of the products are made in-house.
