Rimske Terme
The operator dates the spa's written record to the Aquileia charter of 1486 and its growth to 1840, when the Trieste merchant Gustav Adolf Uhlich bought it; the thermal water rises at 38 to 39 °C. The Roman-styled pools hold 450 m² of thermal water: an indoor and a linked outdoor panoramic pool at 32 °C and seven massage pools with water loungers at about 35 °C.

About Rimske Terme
Marble altars and votive stones dedicated to the nymphs and to Valetudo, the Roman goddess of health, have been found on the site, and the operator says the Romans called the place Aquae Vivae, living waters. The pools draw on the Amalija and Roman springs. After 1848 the guests included Princess Victoria, later Crown Princess of Prussia, the writer Franz Grillparzer and Emperor Ferdinand. The German army made the spa a military hospital in the Second World War, and from 1945 to 1991 the Yugoslav People's Army ran it for a closed circle of officers. It shut in 2005 and reopened in 2014 after a four-year rebuild.
