Agkistro Thermal Baths (Byzantine Hammam)
A stone bath in Agkistro, beside the Bulgarian border north of Sidirokastro, that the operator dates to 950 AD and calls the oldest in Greece, with seven newer pools alongside it. Spring water at up to 37.5 °C pours from spouts into each pool, and every pool is taken privately for 30 or 60 minutes.

About Agkistro Thermal Baths (Byzantine Hammam)
The old bath is a stone room under a dome, with small openings in the dome and thick steam in the dim light. Hot water pours under pressure from a spout into a round mosaic basin, and there is a marble ledge to sit on and sweat. The municipality says the building took on strong Ottoman influences in its architecture. The water is classed as a low-mineral, hypotonic spring water carrying sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron, and the spa says bathers use it for arthritis, rheumatism, sciatica and skin complaints.
