Croatia's thermal springs are inland: in the hills of Hrvatsko Zagorje north of Zagreb, in Međimurje along the Mura and in Slavonia, and many of the spas that grew up around them carry Toplice, from the word for warm, in their names.

Aquae Vivae opened on 21 March 2015 with five indoor pools and one outdoor pool, all filled with thermomineral water from the 41 °C springs of Krapinske Toplice.
Bizovačke toplice, Aquapolis
Thermal bath, Bizovac · The outdoor pool area opens in the summer months; the wave pool and the outdoor part of the recreational pool close in winter.

Stubičke Toplice thermal pools (Hotel Wrello)

The thermal water at Stubičke Toplice reaches 61.4 °C at the spring and has been analysed since 1772; the operator says it is paleo water more than 40,000 years old, filtered through the Medvednica hills.

Questions about Croatia
Is there a thermal water park in Croatia?
Yes, several. At Aquae Vivae in Krapinske Toplice five indoor pools and one outdoor pool are all filled with thermomineral water from the town's springs and run from 28 to 38 °C, with a wave pool, a 4.5-meter diving pool and a 60-meter indoor slide that children under 8 use only with an adult. Terme Tuhelj's Water Planet has 8 thermal pools and 6 slides, and Terme Jezerčica in Donja Stubica has eight pools of thermal water, five of them in an indoor park open all year. Aquapolis at Bizovačke toplice puts its thermal pools beside recreational pools on one ticket.
How warm are the thermal pools in Croatia?
Mostly 28 to 38 °C. At Bizovačke toplice the indoor thermal pool is 35 to 37 °C and the outdoor one 33 to 35 °C, from water that comes out of the ground at 96 °C. Aquae Vivae runs 28 to 38 °C, Daruvar's pools 28 to 35 °C, the Stubičke Toplice hospital pool 33 to 34 °C, and Terme Tuhelj and the Lipik hospital pool 32 to 33 °C.
Can you bathe outdoors in winter at Croatian thermal spas?
At Bizovačke toplice, which has an outdoor thermal pool at 33 to 35 °C beside the indoor one; in summer only the indoor thermal pool is in use. Terme Jezerčica's outdoor water park opens in summer only, and the outdoor pool at Stubičke Toplice has been closed since September 2024 while a new complex is built.
Are the saunas at Croatian thermal spas nude?
At Terme Sveti Martin, yes: the sauna world is a nudist area from age 16, except during the daily Family Wellness sessions in the morning. Swimsuits are required in the pools there and at Aquae Vivae in Krapinske Toplice.
Can children go to Croatian thermal spas?
Yes, and many charge by age or height. Terme Tuhelj and Terme Sveti Martin go by height: Tuhelj lets children under 115 cm in free, and at Sveti Martin children under 150 cm come only with a parent or adult. Children under 6 go free at Aquae Vivae and Daruvar and under 5 at Terme Jezerčica. Swim diapers are required up to age 3 at Sveti Martin and for under-3s at Aquae Vivae.
How much does Terme Tuhelj cost for children?
Tickets go by height: children under 115 cm go free, 115 to 150 cm pay the reduced price, and anyone over 150 cm pays the standard price.
Is the water at Terme Tuhelj from a spring?
Yes. Every pool is filled with sulfur thermal water from a spring below Mihanović Castle, at 32 to 33 °C.
