Prasonisi Beach

A sand spit at the southern tip of Rhodes that joins the islet of Prasonisi to the island in summer and is covered by waves in winter, leaving two bays on either side. Strong winds, especially the July and August meltemi, have made it a meeting point for windsurfers.

Getting in

Access
The Ministry of Environment's bathing water profile says the beach is reached by the road through Kattavia, 12 km away, and that the narrow strip of sand joining Prasonisi to Rhodes is covered by waves in winter. It says swimmers use the eastern part of the beach and the south-west end is used mainly for water sports, where the only organised stretch has sunbeds, a snack stand and a lifeguard platform.
Public transport
KTEL Rodou runs a Rhodes to Prasonisi route from Mandraki (bus station 1) to its Prasonisi stop (bus station 85), with two departures a day in the 2025 summer timetable.
