Cap Taillat

Cap Taillat is a wooded rocky headland tied to the shore by a narrow sand tombolo, with the Baie de Briande on one side and the Baie de Bonporteau on the other. The Conservatoire du littoral bought it in 1987, when Club Med planned a port and 400 bungalows there, and it is reached only by the coastal path.

Getting in

Access
Reached only on foot by the yellow-marked coastal path. The park gives 1 h 30 return from avenue Cartaya and 2 h 15 return from L'Escalet, and advises against the rocky, exposed first stretch from L'Escalet with young children. The tourist office lists the L'Escalet route as 5.5 km and 140 minutes with 113 m of climb, sports shoes recommended, and warns the passage at the trailhead can be submerged in heavy seas. Protected site owned by the Conservatoire du littoral. Dogs on a lead (tourist office). From June to September the Var prefecture sets access to the forest massifs day by day (order of 19 June 2018 as amended); on the top levels access is banned.
Parking
Pay-and-display car park at Plage de l'Escalet, or the parking spaces at the end of avenue Cartaya near Pointe du Canadel (park).
