About Plage du Prophète
The beach is about 260 m of fine sand and pebbles below the Corniche Kennedy, and the tourist office calls it one of the oldest beaches in Marseille. It has a free beach volleyball court and children's games. The tourist office links the name to the baritone Jean-Vital Jammes, known as Ismaël, who sang Meyerbeer's Le Prophète at the Marseille Opera in 1856 and is said to have rehearsed on the beach.
