About Centralbadet

Wilhelm Klemming built the bath in reinforced concrete on the Hennebique system, the first time the material was used in Stockholm, and the city architect refused the plans until Klemming brought papers from Germany and England to prove it would hold. Leaf patterns in the render of the outer walls carry the garden into the building. On opening day, 1 August 1904, there were three pools for men and two for women, carbonic acid baths, "electric light baths", sunbathing on the roof and a photo studio run by Klemming's brother Frans Gustaf. In the small park in front, a fountain of the sea god Triton, given by his daughter Greta, has stood since 1923.
