About As Burgas thermal pool
The water comes from aquifers more than a kilometer down and arrives very soft, with bicarbonate and sodium as its main ions. Beside the pool stands the Burga de Arriba, a plain 17th-century fountain, and inside the enclosure are four replicas of votive altars found nearby, left by the ancient cult of the gods of these hot waters. The one facing the fountain honors the nymphs and names Calpurnia Abana, long taken for the first name on record in Ourense. Her inscription is reproduced on a mural, next to two sculptures from 1989: La casa de la nube by Borrajo and Calpurnia Abana by Acisclo.
