Hrunalaug
Hrunalaug is three small pools fed by a warm spring on the farm Ás outside Flúðir, owned by the same family since the 1890s: the oldest was built around 1890 for laundry and bathing, the second in 1935 for washing sheep against scab. A changing building set into the hill behind the pools opened in 2026.

About Hrunalaug
Hrunalaug lies in a grassy gully, part natural spring and part old farm structure. The stone-walled oldest pool was laid by Stefán Jónsson, a farmer at Ás, and his family, who also bathed in it after a long working day. The landmark is the small concrete sheep dip built by Steindór Eiríksson, grandfather of the current owners, along with a hut that long served as the only changing room. Washing sheep here ended in the 1980s. The third pool is ringed with columnar basalt from Hrepphólar.
