About Dandár Thermal Bath
The flats in the tenements around Dandár utca had no bathrooms in the early 1900s, so the city built a public washing bath here, which opened in 1930 with 15 tubs for adults and as many for children. When it became a medicinal bath, the water at first arrived by tanker every day from the Széchenyi bath and later from the Paskál bath. From 1987 it came from a thermal well in nearby Közraktár utca, with the same make-up as the Gellért bath's water, and since 2005 Dandár has had its own well near the National Theatre. The outdoor pools sit in a closed courtyard, and the basement now holds the sauna and plunge pool.
