Badeanstalten Spanien
Aarhus's municipal bathhouse on Spanien keeps its original 1933 private bathing cabins in Grossererbadet, its wellness area, some now with light therapy or infrared chairs. Grossererbadet has a sauna, two steam baths, a bubbling sensory pool and a 34 °C massage pool, next to a 25 metre pool at 28 °C.

About Badeanstalten Spanien
City architect Frederik M. Draiby drew this red brick block with engineer C. Juul, and when it was inaugurated on 15 September 1933 the baths used salt water from the bay. The word BADEANSTALT runs down the front in red neon after dark, and signs over three doorways on the street announce swimming pool, steam bath and shower. In the entrance hall, under a light blue ceiling with yellow walls and green doors, the original ticket counter stands among illuminated price signs. In Grossererbadet, you cool off by pulling the cord on a bucket of cold water. The building has been listed since 1989.
