Ottakringer Bad

The City of Vienna built it in 1926 and calls it the first outdoor pool in Vienna whose water could be warmed with an electric preheater; a swimming hall was added from 1971. The sauna has separate women's and men's sections with a Finnish sauna, a steam bath and a cold plunge pool.

About Ottakringer Bad

After the Ottakringer Bad opened in 1926, the city closed the children's pool at Johann-Staud-Straße 28 to 30, an Erich Leischner design of 1923 and 1924 filled with water from Vienna's mountain spring supply, and nothing of it survives. After the Second World War the bath was open again by 20 May 1945. Between 1966 and 1972 it was remodelled and extended to plans by Friedrich Florian Grünberger. In summer the outdoor side adds a fun pool with a slide and a water mushroom, and a beach volleyball court on the grounds.
