Swimming in Mellieħa

Mellieħa stands on a ridge at the northern end of Malta, about 15 km north-west of Valletta, above the bay that shares its name. Its beaches here are all sand: Mellieħa Bay below the town, Golden Bay on the north-west coast and a small beach by the Ċirkewwa ferry landing for Gozo. On Anchor Bay, about 1.5 km south-west of Mellieħa Bay, the Popeye film set is now an open-air museum and family park.
