Swimming in Fodele

Fodele is a village a short way inland from Crete's north coast, and its beach is about 18 km west of Heraklion. You swim at the head of the bay below the village, on a sandy beach with a hotel along the shore. Near the village, about 3 km inland, a small museum given over to El Greco shows copies of his paintings and a reconstruction of his workshop.
