About Sole-Heilbad Breiten (Hotel Salina Maris)
About six tons of salt sit in this pool, left by a primeval sea that once covered Switzerland; the operator's slogan is "Urmeer in den Alpen". The brine is pumped up as a saturated solution from 140 to 400 meters underground and reaches Breiten by tanker truck. The village sits on a sunny terrace above the valley, and in summer a lawn in front of the pool is there for sunbathing. Parents are asked to keep children in the brine for 15 minutes at most, unless a doctor says otherwise, and after a longer bath to put them to bed for half an hour to an hour.
