Havet (sauna village ARK and Árdna)

A floating sauna village called ARK in Trondheim's Nyhavna, with seven saunas, a sea pool and a small bar, beside Árdna on the quay, which the operator calls one of the world's largest saunas, and a path of nine cold plunges. A 2.5-hour session covers all open shared saunas, with aufguss rituals in Drivhuset most days and DJ sessions in Árdna at weekends.

About Havet (sauna village ARK and Árdna)

The saunas are one part of Havet, a venue that turned old industrial premises in Nyhavna into stages and also runs a barbecue restaurant with wood-fired smokers. The cold plunges are vintage wooden barrels of fresh water. Havet also has a free public bathing raft with diving towers of 3 and 5.5 m. ARK Lauga, a public bathing spot, takes its name from the Norse word for bathing; Saturday's old name, Laugardagr, meant washing day. There's no lifeguard at ARK Lauga. The water in the inner Dora basin is part fresh, so it freezes quickly, and jumping onto thin ice there is life-threatening.
