Thermal baths in Ålesund

Ålesund is a port town spread over islands on the Sunnmøre coast of western Norway, about 10 km from Vigra airport. Svai's self-service saunas sit on Brosundet, the channel through the town center, with aquavit barrels of fjord water for the cold dip. From the town park, 418 steps climb Aksla for a view over the islands and the Sunnmøre Alps.

    Bathhouse, Ålesund · No alcohol at drop-in; no food in the sauna room; no soap or shampoo. Full refund only for cancellations at least 24 hours ahead, also when ill. Toilets at Kulturhavna are portable toilets. Molja, the floating sauna in Brosundet, is closed for renovation.

    Self-service saunas on Ålesund's Brosundet: at Kulturhavna on the south side, Årre and Heite sit beside 50-year-old aquavit barrels kept full of seawater pumped from the fjord.
