About Terme di Orte
Before the park existed, this spring went by the name Acque dei Rognosi, roughly the waters of the scabby, for what it was said to do for skin diseases. It was also called Capannelle, after the rough cabins of shrubs and reeds where bathers waited their turn and ate simple meals afterward. The big pool now has a thermal waterfall that gives a hard massage, and the same source runs from an exedra-shaped fountain called Le Sette Cannelle, whose sulfurous water the operator recommends drinking for constipation and irritable bowel. Tables and gazebos stand under old pines and lime trees, where people play cards or read.
