Sky Lagoon
An infinity-edge lagoon at 38 to 40 °C on the shore at Kópavogur, 13 minutes from central Reykjavík, opened in 2021 behind a turf house and a herringbone turf wall. Its seven-step ritual takes you from the lagoon through a cold plunge and a sauna, and children under 12 aren't admitted.

About Sky Lagoon
The 70 m infinity edge looks over Skerjafjörður, a fjord named for the reefs that show at low tide, toward the cone of Keilir, the white walls and red roofs of the presidential residence at Bessastaðir and, on a clear day, Snæfellsjökull on the next peninsula. Turf layer Guðjón S. Kristinsson and his team cut the turf for the entrance wall into tiles, and Icelandic turf, laced with volcanic ash, sets almost like concrete. The operator calls it the first turf wall on a modern building in Iceland. The Kuldi cold plunge is built of hewn stone after Snorralaug in Reykholt, the old pool Snorri Sturluson had made for himself.
