About Chreli Abano (Orbeliani Baths)
The building dates from the 17th century and wears its Persian influence on the outside: a facade of multicoloured tiles under a dome shaped like a minaret. The restoration rebuilt every detail to the original design under the supervision of specialists. Besides the pools, the house offers kisa, the exfoliation that the operator calls an integral part of the old Tbilisi bath, and it makes its own sulphur soaps and bath bombs to take home. The operator says the sulphur-alkaline water is used for arthritis and skin complaints.
