About Sompasauna
Sompasauna began on the Helsinki shore near Kalasatama, where, the story goes, someone found an old sauna stove by the water and the first sauna was built around it. The saunas there went up mostly from materials donated by building sites, and users are asked to give back in firewood, water or carpentry. In 2025 it moved to Mustikkamaa island, onto ground rented from the City of Helsinki, and you cool off by dropping off the dock into the sea. There's a piano, and acoustic music and singing are welcome.
