Swimming in Panarea
Panarea is one of the Aeolian Islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea off north-east Sicily, about 50 km from the port of Milazzo. Cala Junco, a pebble cove ringed by rock at the island's southern tip, is reached on a footpath or by boat. In the evening, boats from Panarea's harbour make the 30-minute crossing to Stromboli to watch for eruptions on the volcano's Sciara del Fuoco slope.
